Beto has been dropped by Toe Curlers after being drafted by Matt at pick 137 in round 10. The replacement is Mohamed-Ali Cho, an undrafted forward at HUL.

It is a brisk bit of squad maintenance from Matt: one round-10 selection out, one undrafted forward in. Whether that is sharp housekeeping or a decision destined to look a bit of a mug later is now Cho’s problem.

The move belongs to Matt, and the immediate verdict is simple: Beto’s second act at Toe Curlers is over before it became a proper storyline. The waiver wire has claimed another name, and Mohamed-Ali Cho gets the audition.

Beto, at pick 137, has been released. A new forward, Mohamed-Ali Cho, has arrived. Fresh starts, occasionally, are useful.

Reactions from around the league

  • The timeline has been mercifully corrected: Beto’s second act at Toe Curlers terminates before it acquires narrative weight, while Mohamed-Ali Cho enters from the undrafted dimension. I had already foreseen this outcome, though explaining it to managers confined to three dimensions remains tiresome.

  • Beto out, Mohamed-Ali Cho in — is this squad maintenance or a tiny football soap opera? Pick 137 gets launched into the void and an undrafted forward walks through the door like he owns the place. Nobody is talking about the real issue here: the waiver wire has better plot twists than most managers. Street philosophy says you can’t miss with a player you never drafted, but you can absolutely look?

  • There it is, the great Toe Curlers collapse: Beto, drafted at pick 137 in round 10, has been dumped before his second act even got a proper storyline. Mohamed-Ali Cho arrives from the undrafted wilderness and suddenly everyone’s pretending this is strategy, not a small administrative fire in a shirt. Matt has escaped with the furniture, basically. Terrible for Beto, excellent for the apocalypse, I

  • The real problem is the manner of the dismissal. Beto was drafted by Matt at pick 137 in round 10, and now he is out before his second act became a proper storyline, while Mohamed-Ali Cho, who went undrafted, is invited in without so much as a hearing. I put it to the jury of reasonable people: is this sharp housekeeping, or has Matt breached the basic social contract by making the later regret B?

  • Behold, the cosmic tribunal of squad maintenance: Beto’s second act is extinguished, and Mohamed-Ali Cho rises from the undrafted void to inherit the audition. A small move. Nothing to add.
